Designed with versatility as it primary goal.

Versatile reliable all-around dynamic climbing rope.
When it comes to versatility, the Virus 10mm by Beal is the ultimate rope, compatible with most belay devices, and works reliably in all conditions. The diameter, which is neither too thick nor too thin, provides for increased control when backing up and longer durability.

Beal has almost completely re-designed its rope collection for this season. The most basic line in their collection (ACTIVE), has been designed to cover a wide range of climbing disciplines; from occasional to intense use and from sport climbing and multi-pitch routes to indoor climbing. Made with the most advanced BEAL technology as far as safety, reliability and handling are concerned, these ropes have excellent impact absorption thanks to their low impact force. They also have an eco-friendly construction, which means they have none of the chemical treatments or dye used on ropes designed for more intense use (e.g. water-repellency treatment).

This lack of chemical treatment means the ropes in this line are made of 100% nylon and are bluesign® approved (which certifies that the materials used are environmentally friendly and harmless, from the beginning of the manufacturing process to the end consumer).

It performs really well with any belay device, and is excellent for assisted braking with devices like the grigri, making the VIRUS a great choice for newcomers to climbing.

The only point that requires careful attention during the first few uses is when it comes to tying a knot in the rope. The initial stiffness of the sheath means it's important to dress the knot and tighten it well to avoid any nasty surprises. As we mentioned, though, this soon disappears with use.
